Eshe’s “Taj Mahal” art piece is part of the “Architectures” series.
The Taj Mahal is an enormous mausoleum white marble complex commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the remains of his beloved wife.
Eshe’s rendition of the Taj Mahal brings out the architectonic beauty of the concave and convex with intense shades and shadows. The outlines of arches and domes are bold yet smudged, exhibiting the majestic mystery of this monument.
The dark sky paint wash and excessively black trees that lie along the pathway further emphasised the massiveness of this Indo-Islamic building.
